Tuck And Towery Win Tuckertown Clash
September 12, 2009

The Bassmasters of Charlotte were fortunate enough to include Tuckertown reservoir in their schedule this year and to put it on list for later in the summer months. The club traveled the distance this past weekend to try their hands on the one body of water in the region that continues to produce. Eight boats and fifteen anglers from the group blasted off from the Flat Creek Access at safe light and clashed with bass for eight hours.

President Ron Tuck of Rockwell and partner, Pete Towery from South Carolina, found the best locations and hauled 8 pounds 8 ounces of keepers to the scales at 3 PM.

They were followed by second placers Jim Bland and Scott Hartsell, who netted 6 pounds 2 ounces. Bland also scored Big Fish of the day with a fat 3 pound 11 ounce bass. Fishing solo, Roy Lowe finished third with 5 pounds 4 ounces.

Although fishing was a bit slow in the early going, bite began to happen from about noontime on, according to Bland. “I caught that big one just a short time ago,” stated Bland. “That's when things began to really happen for me.”

A B.A.S.S. Affiliated club, the Charlotte-area group usually fishes the second Saturday of each month through the spring and summer months.
