Wrenn Wins Carolinian Bassmasters With 14.44 On Badin
March 13, 2010
The Carolinian Bassmasters swung into Lakemont Dr. last Saturday to try their luck on Badin Lake. The group fishes multiple lakes across the state during their season and they were looking for some luck early on. The lake was busy and the water was still muddy, but at least half of the 16 boats had fish to record.
Bruce Wrenn caught 14.44 pounds of hungry bass for first place. He primarily used a crank bait for most of the day. Jim Provo took second place with a total bag of 10.94 pounds and Big Fish at 4.28 lbs. Chris Coleman was not far behind in third place with 10.48 pounds. Chris was pleased with his catch but commented on, “...the one that got away”, knowing that it would have probably thrust him into first place.
Due to a record amount of rainfall this year, the water along the Yadkin is still very muddy. This makes the fishing more difficult, but a seasoned angler can usually pull at least two or three hungry bass out of hiding. The water temperature averaged 55 degrees for the Carolinian group.
The club fishes eleven events per season and meets monthly at Clarks Barbecue in Kernersville on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. They primarily fish lakes within 150 miles of Kernersville, including High Rock Lake, Lake Norman, Belews Lake, Lookout Shoals, Lake Wylie, Lake Gaston, Tuckertown, Falls, Badin Lake, and Buggs Island.
