Davie Bass Trails Uses Flat Creek To Launch T'Town Assault
July 18, 2009
Although there were only ten anglers in the Davie Bass Trails Anglers assault at Tuckertown Reservoir on Saturday, July 18th, the small group was no less committed to the task of taming the big bass to be found there. The safelight to 1:30 PM event turned out to be one of the club's tougher outings.
“Just as the bass began to hit, they began pulling water with a vengeance,” stated eventual winner Dennis Redd. “Bite went flat after that and we couldn't raise a strike.” All members reported small fish through the early morning hours and slow in the closing period. Redd, from Welcome, NC, reported catching his keepers on plastic worms.
Redd managed 5.9 pounds and earned $100 for his outing. Bill Lookabill slid into second place with 5.4 pounds and the solo prize winner, a 2.7 pound bass. He took a total of $110 away with him. Third place was boated by Jason Redd, who netted 5.1 pounds and the $40 prize that went with it.
The “by invitation only” club fishes nine tournaments, all on different lakes, during a season which lasts from March 7th to just after the New Year. Events are individual competitions, with one or two anglers per boat. More information can be gained by contacting Director Kevin Benfield at 336-998-4569 or viewing the Fishbyte.net Forums and calendar. The Club moves on to High Rock on September 19th.
