“Hooks For Hoops” Announces Fund Raiser Schedule

Five bass tournaments scattered across some of North Carolina's largest lakes will happen from March to September this year, and it's all for basketball. Tagged as Hooks for Hoops, the Newton Flames AAU/YBOA Girls Basketball teams will host the events in hopes of earning travel money and funds for other activities.
The group has one team, according to spokesperson, Kristen Abernethy Morgan, which is in need of funds for their activities. Their first fund-raiser will occur March 20 at High Rock's Dutch Second Creek Access. Other events will happen at Lake James April 2, Wylie on May 29, High Rock August 28, and Norman September 11. Brian Morgan is serving as tournament director.
Cost to join in is $100 with an optional $10 Big Fish pot paying two places (Early registration is only $90). With a fifty boat field, the winner is guaranteed a $1,500 paycheck for the day. Five places will be paid out if at least thirty boats are in the field. Organizers will add an additional $200 to a points champion winner at the final September event, adding some incentive to those who choose to fish all competitions.
