Last Cast Bass Anglers Make Second Cast On Badin
March 20, 2010
After beginning the 2010 season on Hyco just one month before, the Last Cast Bass Anglers made their second stop in a ten-event schedule Badin Lake and the Circle Drive Landing. With a name like “Last Cast” there comes a reason, and anglers showed what it meant. As the 3:30 PM weigh in approached, competitors were working the waters just off shore, looking for a final bass with a final cast.
It all paid off big for members, as weigh in proved to be a heavy one for the nine boat teams participating. But, according to Chris Pelletier and teammate, Todd Still, their biggest fish was caught on their first cast of the day. The pair boated a solid 29.80 pounds of fish in ten, and their bag included the Big Fish of the day, a 5.25 pounder. Their sack went unmatched on the day.
The last Cast Bass anglers hail from Gibsonville, NC and number approximately twenty embers. They are looking to pick up a few more members. “We welcome all fisherman from a novice to the well experienced guys,” stated president Jimmy Smith. “Several of our guys did their first bass fishing with the club and have since become very good anglers.”
The club's schedule includes ten events from February through November, including two, 2-day events on Buggs Island. Lakes also fished include Badin, Tuckertown, Mayo, and High Rock. Their next gathering will be on Mayo April 17th.
Tony Escontrias and George Beato scored a second place finish with six fish weighing 20.60 pounds. Third place finishers were dale Borget and Mike Jones with 17 pounds even.
