Tuckertown Plays Host To Outcast Bass Anglers
April 26, 2009

They call themselves the “Outcasts”... maybe it's a play on words or possibly it's a rebellious nature. Whatever the case, the Outcast Bass Anglers hit Tuckertown on Sunday, April 26th and hung tough all day as the first wave of summer heat blasted the Carolinas.

Four boats used the Flat Creek Landing in Rowan County on the Wildlife Access Road (S.R. 2191), off River Road (S.R. 2152), just west of Rockwell. “We are small right now and are looking for new members,” stated Warren Ewald. The club considers High Rock its home lake and fishes a 5 fish limit at all events. They use a cumulative point system, according to club president, Warren Ewald.

Top spot for the day's competition belonged to team Robert Franklin of Landis and Kevin Johnston of China Grove. They netted 7.4 pounds total and Big Fish of 3.14 pounds while second place finishers Mark Weaver and Rheba Turner brought 3.8 pounds to the scales during the 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM competition.

Outcast Bass anglers Take On High Rock
July 26, 2009
By Warren Ewald

High Rock Lake seemed to belong to one member of the Outcast Bass anglers on a recent Sunday visit to the waters. It took 12.12 pounds of bass to win the competition, all brought in by the vice president of the group.

Three boats showed up for the July event on the club's schedule. Like so many other groups, the participants battled overly-warm air temps and a blazing sun. V.P. Mark Weaver seemed to know bite would only get worse as the day rolled along, so he went to work early. “I caught most of my fish on spinnerbaits by mid-morning,” stated the winner. “That seemed to be the ticket.” Weaver worked Swearing Creek for the better part of the tournament. He added Big Fish to his day's efforts with a 4.2 pounder.

Second place belonged to Kevin Johnson who registered a weight of 5.5 pounds. Warren Ewald and Chris Cook, the third boat in the competition caught fish, but nothing that could be called a keeper. “We just could not get anything over 13 inches, but we had plenty of action. That broke up the day,” stated Ewald.

The Outcast Bass call High Rock their home lake and will begin a membership drive shortly. The club fishes on Sundays and used a five-fish limit in a season-long, point systemrace. If you'd like to join this group, contact Warren Ewald at warrenewaldjr@yahoo.com.
