Shamrock Bass Club Winding Down Winter Trail
January 16, 2010
After a lackluster visit to Badin last Saturday, the Shamrock Bass Club hopes to end it's Winter Trail with a strong showing at Tuckertown next month. Fourteen boat teams turned out for the competition held out of Badin's Circle Drive Access last Saturday on a day that offered the finest weather conditions in weeks. Unfortunately, the bass were unwilling to cooperate and fish catch was down.
Nick House and Scott Shannon managed to find enough fish to grab first place. One fish in their livewell was enough to vault them into that position while nailing down Big Fish of the day. The 5.65 pounder was part of a 8.04 pound bag weight and just a tenth of a pound larger than second placers, Rick Mullins and Director Dean Minor's single fish. House and Shannon walked off with $250 for first and another $130 for the solo lunker. Mullins and Minor netted $155 for their day's efforts.
Third place in the open invitational competition went to Ralph Sr. and son, Ralph Hollifield. They bagged 4.31 pounds in two fish and took home $90. Just out of the money was the final team weighing a catch. Justin Goodyear and Tony Waterhouse bagged 4.14 pounds.
The Winter Trail Series is an “open” event by invitation of any regular club member. Cost is just $50 and the event lasts from 8 AM to 4 PM. Registration and invitations happen at the landing. The next gathering at Tuckertown's Flat Creek Access will happen February 13th.
